Several members of the Stan Sears Memorial Amateur Radio
Club, took time away from operating with K2VK, the East Coast DX Association,
and activated station W2PQG - 1D - NNJ during ARRL Field Day 2010.
Contacts were made on 10m, 15m and 20m SSB from Northern New Jersey.
Operations were co-located with those of K2VK, the East Coast DX Association,
and took place over approximately one hour on Sunday morning of Field Day 2010.
The station setup used for W2PQG contacts, was Stan’s
own Kenwood 930s transceiver, connected directly to a 10-15-20 meter Tri-band
Beam, running 100 watts, without a pre-amp. A Heil Goldline microphone and
footswitch were added to the complement of Stan’s equipment for the day.
Contacts were made with stations from Prince Edward Island (MAR) to many points
up and down the entire Eastern Seaboard into Florida ((WCF, NFL, SFL).
This was the first formal use of Stan’s equipment and
the W2PQG Club Callsign, since Stan became a Silent Key in 2008. Future
additional activations are planned, especially for Field Days, as this was
always one of Stan’s favorite events to take part in.
